Flintham Website Launch FlyerToday sees the launch of the 1st Flintham Scout Group Website. This is the result of nearly six months development for three Explorer Scouts who are learning about web site design and coding as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award.

The aim is to create a professional looking fully responsive dynamic website which provides regular blogs about activities and events going on in the Group. It also aims to provide another means of communication for Scouts, Leaders, Parents and other interested parties.

This has been a steep learning curve for all involved and we realise that this project will need ongoing development to add more content and improved functionality. So expect to see changes and improvements over the coming months.

It needs to be current, interesting and of benefit to users. We therefore greatly appreciate any feedback on your experiences of using this site and what further content and features you would like to see. If you wish to add any content yourself then please get in touch.

For confidentiality reasons we have limited certain content to members only. To view this content you will need to register. When you apply we will check your details against our membership database before you will be allowed access.

We look forward to you using the site and hope you enjoy the experience. For further details of the technical aspects and process followed in creating this site then please visit our Website Development page.

Cubs at Doncaster Dome

2 Cubs describe their visit

We went in Akela’s car up to Doncaster dome for a celebration of the beginning of Cubs 100 year.  There were over 600 cubs from all over Nottinghamshire.

We first had a burger and chips.  Then we got to go ice skating.  I fell over 8 times!  It was great fun.  Some of the older ones were whizzing around.

Then we got changed and went swimming.  In the pool there were water slides and a big w12665884_1023512924383024_1978504817_nater fountain.  You could also swim under a flap and get outside, so we could swim in the rain which was great.  There was also a hot tub and spa.

After over an hour it was time to come out and get changed then go home.

We had a brilliant time.  By Finlay.

On the 23rd January 2016 I went with Flintham cubs to the Doncaster dome top celebrate 100th anniversary of cubs.

We started off our afternoon by going ice skating there was a really good disco playing there was ramps in the ice ring which were really cool, we sometimes fell over but we had lots of fun .

After the ice skating we went swimming , we went down a really dark and steep slide and we went in the outside pool, where there was a waterfall and rapids .

For tea we had burgers and chips we all had a fantastic day with all of our friends

Care Emergency Aid Staged Activity BadgeOver the past 4 weeks, the younger Explorers have been learning First aid with a St. John Ambulance team.

We began Week 1 with some basic first aid, such as the recovery position. During Weeks 2 and 3 we moved on to more difficult procedures for example CPR, serious bleeds, hypothermia, heat stroke, shock and even broken bones! During Week 4 it was mostly focused on specific health conditions, for the benefit of some Leaders who would no doubt need the skills to look after a wide range of children.
